Hi Cherry,
Have you had alot of transfusions, as well? Because
everytime you have a transfusion it adds iron to
your body, also. I too have an iron overload, and I
am currently taking Exjade, an oral chelating agent.
I used to be on Desferal, but my hematologist
feels the Exjade is better. You should ask your
doctors about it.
I hope this helps you,

| Please do not take iron supplements. My doctor advised me to not take my vitmin because of the iron overload and me receiving so many transfusions. One question have you noticed a boost in your hemoglobin level from taking the supplement? |

Blessed,
I remember as a child taking iron supplements, and they never
helped me, other than to of course contribute to the overload
that I am fighting now. I remember my Mom trying to get me
to eat liver, ugh, and spinach...which I love. Just to think because
doctors at that time, told her that I needed it to "build up my blood"
If I had a dollar for every point my ferritin was out of range, I'd
take a vacation in the Bahamas....
Take Care,
Mrs Tayla |
