The Kermit B. Nash Academic Scholarship rewards the achievement of individuals with sickle cell disease and promotes their pursuit of educational goals. This scholarship is named in honor of the late Dr. Kermit B. Nash, former professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work and devoted board member of SCDAA.
1 award for a total of $20,000 for 4 years. Award will be disbursed at $2,500 per semester (Fall and Spring) based on academic status.
Student must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Official college transcripts required each semester prior to disbursement of award. One Semester of academic probation forfeits the scholarship.
Candidates will be asked to write a personal essay, not to exceed 1,000 words, on any aspect of the impact of sickle cell disease on their lives or on society.
