SCDAA 2018 Walk with the Stars and Move-a-thon: A Success

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Walk with the Stars & Move-a-thon. Click here to see photos from the 5thAnnual Walk with the Stars event.

This year, we had close to 500 registrants and have raised $156,147.84 to date!

Whether you participated as a virtual walker, or walked with your team in Baltimore, or hosted an event and fundraised, all of you are shining stars and helped us increase awareness about sickle cell disease (SCD) and raise critical funds to address the complications of SCD. The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. thanks all of you for joining us in this effort!
In addition, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh was unable to join us for the event, but she provided us with a proclamation that saluted the sickle cell community and recognized SCDAA’s Walk with the Stars event as an important opportunity to educate and inform people about SCD. We are grateful to Mayor Pugh for her support of our work!

We would also like to give a special thanks to our co-emcees, Maurette Brown from Praise 106.1FM and Kelly Swoope from WMAR-2 News, and our guest speakers, William Frank from the Maryland Department of Disabilities and Howard Woolley.

We’d also like to thank Praise 106.1 Baltimore for their help in promoting this year’s walk and for providing music for all attendees.
