UPDATE (6:15 p.m. ET 7/17): As noted earlier today, Friday, July 17, the State of Maryland, including Baltimore City, is experiencing a Code Purple Air Quality Alert. SCDAA has been actively monitoring this situation. Out of an abundance of caution, SCDAA has made the difficult decision to cancel the Warrior Walkathon scheduled for tomorrow, July 18, due to the ongoing dangerous poor air quality forecast for Saturday. Having consulted with the SCDAA Chief Medical Officer and considering today’s Maryland Department of Health guidance, we want to ensure that our warriors, caregivers, staff and supporters stay safe. We encourage everyone to be mindful of the air quality over the weekend until the weather clears. We thank you for your support, and we apologize for any inconvenience. We hope to see you for one of our future events!

The 2026 Warrior Walkathon has been canceled. We hope to see you soon at a future event!

Every year, the SCDAA Warrior Walkathon is a great opportunity to get up, get active and make a difference! This in-person and virtual fundraiser offers our community the chance to move and celebrate together.

Over Ten Years of Impact

For more than a decade, we have walked together every summer to raise funds and spread sickle cell awareness. This event to-date has raised over $500,000 for better treatments and improvements in the quality of health for individuals, families and communities affected by sickle cell disease.

Why We Walk

When you participate in the SCDAA Warrior Walkathon, you are helping to build a future where there is a universal cure for sickle cell. The walkathon is the perfect opportunity to encourage friends, loved ones and co-workers to make a life-impacting change for all those affected by sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. United with every walker, together we can raise the necessary funds which will get us that much closer to finding a universal cure.

Rally your friends and family, register to join us and help us fundraise and make a difference in the lives of those affected by sickle cell!
